Sarah Palin: Lies, Truth, and Fairytales

To paraphrase a friend of mine, I can't help but wonder if Joe Biden feels like the ugly girl at the school dance with all of the attention being given to beauty queen Sarah Palin.

And attention she has gotten! For good or ill, she's been on everyone's mind. From the Daily Kos smearing her with (false, and nasty) accusations of having faked a pregnancy to cover for her daughter, to being condemned as a bad mother for pursuing a career in politics while having young children, Sarah Palin has raised quite the stir since the announcement that she was the (first female) Republican nominee for Vice-President of the United States of America.

Since the news broke that Bristol Palin, Sarah's seventeen year old daughter, was pregnant, vicious attacks have spread around the internet like wildfire. And we all know how dangerous and harmful a wildfire can be.

Both McCain and Obama have denounced these sort of smears, saying that the candidate's children should be off limits. Amen.

Sarah Barracuda(her highschool basketball nickname) sums her up quite nicely. Is it any wonder that John McCain chose this woman as his running mate? This woman who, in the course of a week, has given more energy to the party than anyone in the entire course of this campaign?

She is not, as many bitterly accuse, a token woman. She's an incredible person who happens to be a woman. This is not a reach out to Hillary voters. This is a reach out to smart voters, who, upon learning about her, will likely fall madly for her.

She is strong, she is a mother, she is smart, she is articulate, she is educated, she is beautiful, and she is the next Vice President of the United States of America.

What a great day it will be for America when a great woman takes that office.
